2. 6. CHRISTMAS messages (10th F) First, let's enjoy Pearson ELT 2013 Advent Calendar with a whole range of great ideas for this special time of the year :)) Just follow the link Pearson ELT 2013 Advent Calendar Secondly, my Christmas message to you all based on a quote from the film “Cloud Atlas”: “We cross and re-cross our old paths like figure-skaters.”Figure skaters, especially the duos, have always impressed me for their beauty, stamina, synchrony, capacity to depend on and work with the other in a beautiful way. Watching “Cloud Atlas” again this year and meditating on its message, I’ve thought of how precious it would be to think of us as figure skaters whose paths we cross and recross. Even if I am a Roman Catholic and, therefore, only allowed to have and live one life, the mystery of reincarnation has always attracted and even seduced me. The idea that we may have more than one life to make amends, to try harder and better, to look for and find our soul mate is surely a prospect I look forward to. There is so much beauty in this world we could have cherished and didn’t; there are so many events we could have enjoyed and didn’t; there are so many people we’ve crossed and simply didn’t notice; there are so many dreams we could have fulfilled and didn’t; there are so many words that went unsaid, so many moments that went forsaken, so many things that went undone … Could it have been different only if …? Perhaps… So, CARPE DIEM (SEIZE THE DAY), BE HAPPY AND JUST KEEP YOUR CHRISTMAS SPIRIT ALIVE! ANA
Now just as a complement to my message, read Langston Hughes’s poem DREAMS and “hold fast to your dreams” too.DreamsHold fast to dreamsFor if dreams dieLife is a broken-winged birdThat cannot fly. Hold fast to dreamsFor when dreams goLife is a barren fieldFrozen with snow.
